My hearing was damaged due to a virus while I had a sinus infection.

Destroyed the nerve in my left ear. But unless someone was on my left side, you really couldn't tell I was hearing impaired. With age, I lost the high frequency range in my right ear, and marginally needed to have an aid. I was initially reluctant due to personal vanity, but the new ones are so miniaturized ....fits behind my ears, looks like part of my glasses and a small wire goes into my ear. Speaker is the size of a pin head. The whole discussion was started by the possibility of a bone induction device which would require surgery. But the hearing aids are so improved and don't require surgery, I'm sticking with the hearing aid. I'm very happy with it so far.
