I'm not sure if they are the highest rated, definitel they weren't our
best recruiting classes, just as good as we have done over three consecutive years ranking wise. I am saying 20-25 is VT's ceiling. Not our average recruiting class or our likely recruiting class given neutral factors. I'm saying that's our ceiling. VT played for and almost won the ACC title against Clemson in 2016 in FU's first season. That's why we hit our recruiting ranking ceiling in 2017-2019. It wasn't because FU was a known great coach and it certainly wasn't because he did such a good job cultivating personal connections and relationships.
TSL posts read like - all we have to do is 'personal connection + relationship building' because FU was so bad at it and then we're going to start winning head to head recruiting battles against Ohio State, PSU, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame. I'm saying that's hogwash. I see those schools winning those battles 3 years from now probably just as easy (maybe easier depending on how NIL goes) as they are winning them now. At best we're going to pull in the same 3 star and occasional 4 star recruit, but more of them are going to be from Virginia instead of elsewhere. Only TSL thinks that's going to make a material difference in the long run. Which is why IMO, Pry better be really good at developing talent.
