You were wrong then and still wrong today :)
You can believe it until the days you die... that belief does not make it true.
There are these inconvenient things called "facts" that sometimes contradict peoples beliefs. The facts were:
* There would be no ACCN without all members signing the long-term GOR.
* Therefore, there was no option to remain in the ACC without signing the GOR.
* There was no other conference invitation or option for VT if they refused to sign the GOR and were, therefore, kicked out of (or resigned from) the ACC.
* The B1G and SEC make so much money that any new school would need to clear $75M in annual revenue for the conference just for the member schools to break even. VT does not bring that kind of power - not even close.
VT has two (and only two) choices:
1) Sign the GOR and remain in the ACC
2) Not sign the GOR, resign (or be removed) from the ACC and either go independent of join a Group of 5 conference (such as the American)
I said it then and still believe it today... VT made the smart choice :)
