The purpose of the NCAA basketball tournament is to make money! Toward that end, the committee selects a diverse group of teams to insure widespread interest. It is NOT about selecting the best 64 teams! It is about mixing truly worthy teams with those teams that can create drama and fan interest.

Why is that so difficult for some people to understand? St Peters is the perfect example of why the committee is right and complaining fans are wrong. The only way to get a Cinderella team is to allow marginal teams into the competition to begin with.

With regards to the ACC, it is clear that the committee undervalued the conference. Yes, we should have had more ACC teams in the tournament. However, to their defense, we did it to ourselves. The ACC out of conference record was poor. After early January, the hype trains for the SEC and BIG10 left the station and there was no way to independently gauge how the ACC was developing. The only way to fix this problem is to guarantee a certain number of slots for each major conference, which is a terrible idea.

To those with a beef, why not just sit back and enjoy the ride? Yeah, your bracket's busted, but so is everybody else's.
