Question for anyone in the VA school systems: re:internet safety.

So, my 2nd grader came home from school on Friday telling us about some disturbing things he'd seen / searched on his school Chromebook.

Evidently whem he and his buddies finish school work early, the teacher lets them on Chromebooks completely unsupervised. This amounts to 2-3 hours everyday.

What he told us he searched was one thing, but most disturbing to me: he logged in to his account and the county has turned off search history and disabled the ability to apply parental controls?

Someone tell me a defensible justification for turning off a 2nd graders search history?

Also, neither my 2nd grader nor kindergartener has ever been given a lesson on internet safety.
