Is paying Bell and Sikorsky to develop prototypes for the Valor (tilt rotor) and Defiant (coaxial) replacements to the Blackhawk. Both have structural / design liabilities.

I don’t know anything of what happened, however the exercise just started, and the terrain, altitude, etc. might have been unfamiliar to the crew. Any of that could have contributed to the crash.

I’ve flown on them- they have a lot of internal space. I’d say comparable to a CH-53 Sea King, but not hydraulic fluid shower every time you ride on it.
