The invasion is more about grabbing oil/gas resources found in Ukraine

So far Russia has been the only European country with any real oil/gas deposits. And selling those has been the main source of income for Russia. With another European country possibly developing oil/gas exports to the rest of Europe it will hurt the main thing propping up Russia's economy. And it doesn't help that the former Soviet area that became Ukraine is wanting to become more western. Wanting to join the EU and possible NATO ties is just the icing on the cake. Despite what Russia will say publicly, this is about economic survival to Moscow
