I think a lot had to do with running our offense late in games

early in the season, when we were up, we often ran the clock down just passing around the perimeter and often turning it over or settling for a semi-contested 3 as the clock expired. As the team gelled they began putting pressure on the D, taking the ball inside late, especially after the other team scored or closed it up a little. The D would take chances, we'd slip a pass inside and get an easy score.

The mental impact of that is huge. We scored to answer, which creates confidence for us, but it also causes stress and panic for the opponent as they realize they HAVE to score. Most players get tight in that situation. Look at Duke and NC late....their average shooting most of the second half became terrible shooting in the last 5-6 mins when they started getting stressed because we answered every possession, usually with a layup or short jumper.
