Churchill documented his concerns in his writings

in "The Gathering Storm" while picnicing in germany with a friend watching civilian aircraft practice paratrooper drops well before polish invasion. Unfortunately churchill had a "hawk" reputation and was dismissed by parliament because many thought churchill as "overcompensating" for his Dardenelles naval disaster in WWI. His observations should have been heeded obviously.
