Ammo availability and purpose matter. 6.5 has the best ballistics and is a popular / fairly easy cartridge to find right now. .308 is no slouch, but the 6.5 will reach a bit further with a flatter arc. That said you'll find .308 ammo in every shop in the nation without much trouble. 6.5 PRC is great, but can be very hard to find ammo for.

end of the world, .308 is probably the best. Fun long range shooting with less recoil? Creedmoor.
