The world needs oil and Iran, China and Russia can control most of it

that is leverage that has to be factored into how much pain the world can inflict. Not to mention the idea of destabilizing the government that has the largest nuclear weapon stockpile and is aligned with wonderful chaps like Iran and China.

There will be a lot more angry resolutions and speeches, but in the end, the Russians will survive, like they always have. Let's face it, what is going on now has gone on twice recently (Belorous and Georgia). Ukraine is just more western, so people are paying more attention.
