WRT the Bond franchise there is a little more latitude on where it can go

from here. At least it shouldn't be too difficult to create a script where James Bond goes from being an actual person to a code name. By going that route the franchise can continue with different actors or actresses playing the wrote without having to remain in the world Ian Fleming created in his books. Batman and maybe the Flash are 2 other franchises that could go that route too.
