I had a similar thought, but I think Troy doesn't exactly "move the needle"
We'll have close to 20 games against ranked teams by the end of the season, and our team will be judged primarily based on our performance against those teams. Troy seems to be a very good team, but one that a Top 10 team would be expected to beat, so I don't think we're missing out on too much by not officially having that in the win column. That being said, I think it was good for our confidence that we were up 4-1 when the game was called.
