Fuente recruiting

Fuente was not successful recruiting during the pandemic. Otherwise he brought in strong classes. …Not sure anyone new to VT could have attracted players to VT sight unseen. Much of the recruiting success is around the feeling recruits get when they visit campus and get to know students, players, and coaches. Hard to do via zoom. Other schools in more accessible locations had a huge advantage.
Clinics, camps, workshops, etcetera should be a prerequisite for coaches trying to recruit top talent to VT. Building trust and relationships leads to visits, and visits generate commitments. Without visits, I’d hate to be the one responsible for convincing an 18 year old to come to Blacksburg.
Not defending Fuente’s overall results, just don’t expect instant success by Pry because it takes a few years of repeat visits to consistently attract top talent to southwest Virginia.
