This is pretty accurate in hindsight

A couple of things happened. Fuente was vocal that he did not think going into Texas would be a juice worth the squeeze. However, VA talent was down a year or so and they needed to broaden somewhere. Staff convinced Fuente to throw some easy feelers into Texas since staff had connections there. The early indications were very positive and Fuente then agreed to push even more resources in that direction. #TX2VT was born. Overall, the amount of resources used was fairly minimal but the social media perception appeared as though we were all in. Then those early indications fell to pieces but not before VA high school coaches feelings were hurt. Then, the recruits we did land from Texas didn't pan out so great either. In hindsight, it was a colossal error in judgment, against better judgment I might add. But, I have a respectable understanding how the staff fell into that trap.
