Aren’t you ignoring the auto bid steals in conference tournaments?

For example, even if Oregon stumbles down the stretch maybe a team like Arizona State gets hot and wins the Pac12 tournament. We saw it last year with Oregon St. Or George Mason wins the A10 tourney. There always seems to be a surprise bid stealer in the conference tourneys that shrink the available spots
