I like an even bracket, so I am against 12. But 8 or 16 would be great.


I also think we have to avoid contemporary bias in this decision. Give the top 8 home games, but I'm not handing out an arbitrary number of byes.

Just because it appears that there are only 2 or so dominant teams recently, doesn't mean it will always be that way. And just because there have been some blowouts recently (Michigan LOL), doesn't mean it will be that way in the future.

What I DON'T like about the direction of college football is the concentration of power in the SEC and ESPN. I think a 16 team playoff with all conference champions getting a bid would be good in the long run. Might produce some first round blowouts, but that's fine. In the end, at least a quality player (4-stars and 5-stars) can feel he can go to another school outside the upper tier of the SEC and still get national exposure and realistically play for national championship.

BTW, I say this without passion or prejudice toward the SEC. It truly does "mean more" to the region and the conference, and I totally respect that. But it doesn't mean that it doesn't mean anything to the rest of the country. Because it no doubt does.

I think I like an 8 model with 4 quarterfinal games being played on New Years Day with the true Pac-12 and Big Ten champs playing in the Rose Bowl. I'd like to Make New Year's Day Great Again.
