I have dealt with it in both feet over time as a result of

running. Some suggestions:

1. NEVER go barefoot
2, Stretch before getting out of bed every morning
3. Most tennis shoes, boots, etc. have lousy inserts. Replace the standard inserts with green Superfeet inserts or equivalent.
4. For the lucky, PF goes away over time. In one foot, my heel felt like someone was hitting it with a hammer all summer. I used to drive with my heel on a frozen water bottle to relieve the pain. I got one cortisone shot in my heel and it cleared up within a week and started running again with no pain. In my other foot, the PF wasn't nearly as bad but wouldn't go away after 9 months. It took two cortisone shots in that foot to get rid of it.
5. I tried one of those night PF splints and hated it so I quit using it after one night.

Good luck and congratulations on beating the Hoos recently.
