I had it about 5 years ago. It was pretty excruciating...

...particularly for someone like me who at that time was a construction superintendent and would frequently get 15,000-20,000 steps a day in steel-toe boots. Oddly enough, my issue seems to have been caused mostly by inflammation due to certain foods. By pure coincidence, I realized that my foot almost immediately felt better after I cut back on my carb intake to lose a couple of pounds. Prior to that, I had been eating a lot of Mexican food, and it appears that corn chips/corn tortillas seemed to be causing inflammation. I only figured this out when I started to eat a little bit more carbs after a while, including corn chips, and my foot immediately started hurting again. That's when I realized there might be a possible connection. I've since recreated this phenomenon several times by eating corn products, and it seems to make my foot flare up every time. Is it subliminal? Possibly...but either way, I'm just glad my foot doesn't hurt anymore!
