There is no incentive for the minor league teams to play them though


because the major league teams took the money off the table when they decided to do their own thing in basketball and football. Plus, it doesn't matter whether a non-revenue sport makes money, which some do, or loses money because the major league won't be able to avoid Title IX. Even if they reclassify the student-athletes as "employees," then they will still be subject to Title IX because of the athletic department's connection with the academic side of the school. Now if the athletic department completely divorces itself from the academic side, then it might have a case that it is no longer subject to Title IX. At that point the athletic department is free to decide which sports it wants to sponsor or not sponsor because all the athletes will be employees.
