Are you a teacher in VA?


If so I have a question for you.
My son and his entire class caught Covid early last fall. The teacher went on a trip and caught covid. Despite being vaccinated and everyone in the class wearing masks, she taught 2 days with a headache. ON her 2nd day she tested and was positive, as were 17 out of 21 students including my son. The other 4 had c19 over the summer.

We all took our bought with Omicron over the last few weeks. As such my boys have returned to school under the new mask guidance. Our public school is pretty conservative overall and the vast majority of students are not wearing masks any longer.

The gifted program teach took my son and his 9 classmates yesterday (7-8 YOs). 7 of the 9 were not wearing masks. She praised the 2 that were and lectured the other 7 about how bad it was they weren't wearing masks, spread them out, and told them they weren't going to be able to work effectively anymore b/c their parents were "selfishly" not making them wear masks anymore.

The masks have already proven ineffective in this setting. They're 7 and not wearing N95s. I don't want to be a Karen (or whatever the male equivalent is) but this teacher is out of line in my opinion.

Are her actions allowed under current guidance? Can she segregate the non-mask wearers and treat them differently than the masks wearers?
