Your blanket statement of "Masks are largely ineffective" to start with.
Note that you didn't qualify that as "cloth" masks. Different masks provide different effectiveness based on a variety of factors. Lumping them all together as "largely ineffective" is flat out incorrect. But regardless of the level of effectiveness just about any mask is "worth it" because the effort/downside to wearing one is basically zero. Even assuming a cloth mask only provides a small benefit it's still going to be useful b/c it's such a minor "cost" to implement.
Then you try to say that wearing a mask "prolongs the pandemic" which doesn't even make sense especially given the statement preceding it. Then you trot out "Science tells us we will all catch the virus, better to do it now so we burn it out." which is not a good idea if you think about it. We have hospitals struggling with the surge created by omicron without everyone trying to catch it at the same time/as soon as possible. People have been using some form of that "we should all just get it and get it over with" since about the 4th month of the pandemic. It wasn't a good idea then... and it's still not.
"Science" doesn't tell us to do that at all. As we've seen even a less severe variant can still cause problems if it's massively contagious. You can still end up with as many or more people hospitalized or dead thanks to the sheer numbers involved. All it really needs is to be more contagious than it is less severe.
As far as insulting people who wear them, I'd argue that using the phrase "hide behind their almost worthless mask" is pretty insulting. Again it's similar to rhetoric we've heard since the early days of the pandemic. "Hiding in your basement". "Scared to live your life". Something tells me if I were to say you were only spouting such nonsense because you're "hiding behind" your keyboard you probably wouldn't take too kindly to that.
As far as calling you a "spewing ignoramus", I did no such thing. I said your post was ignorant and it is for the reasons I just laid out. I have no idea if you are an ignoramus or not. My post was specifically talking about your post and the views expressed within it. And honestly what would make me feel better is not seeing posts like that to start with. Like I said many of these arguments and fallacies are the same ones we've been seeing since 4-6 months into the pandemic.
