When playing for the last shot, you don't need defense

So Maddox wasn't deemed to be the better option than Alleyne just based on offense. I think that speaks volumes about CMY and his view of Alleyne vs Maddox from an offensive perspective. Plus, I think you should go with the player who is hot and that is Maddox. I've seen enough of Alleyne at the end of games to give Maddox a shot, especially when he is hot.
