The bottom line is that anyone who tries to analyze a basketball game or


as set of basketball games purely using statistics has a really good chance of not knowing what's actually working or not working. If you could just use metrics to analyze everything then you wouldn't need a coach, you could just have a computer.

Analytics are great. And they should be used by coaches to try to improve their systems and to provide guidance on what players' strengths and weaknesses are. But just looking at offensive and defensive efficiencies can't tell the whole story. *Especially* without looking at the split between wins and losses.

Bottom line is that efficiency can't tell the whole story, and VT 2021-2022 is a perfect example why.
