I've no knowledge of jung fat kung fu (I have done kung fu, but not that

style). But all the others you listed definitely teach a high-power round kick that needs to be respected with more than a one-armed low block. Just saying there are a lot of round kicks out there in other arts that would certainly hurt, but are highly unlikely to injure, even if you ate it at full power.

Also, FYI, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai are both based on actual martial arts, at least in the philosophies and basics they preach if not in how their students actually fight. Miyagi-Do is fairly heavily based on Goju-Ryu, which has been used by MMA practitioners (mixed in with other stuff, of course). And Cobra Kai is VERY loosly based on Tang Soo Do.

But still, it's a movie/TV show filled with actors, not martial artists. They absolutely have some very skilled choreographers and trainers behind the scenes, but the limits of the young actors themselves shows through a lot at times.

A bit of a shame. There are some genuine badarse young martial artists in this world. Part of me wonders if giving a few of them acting lessons wouldn't have been more productive than giving actors martial arts lessons when the show centers around martial arts.
