So you find completely lopsided games interesting?


The problem with college football is that it is striving to be like the NFL w/ a playoff but lacks the mechanisms inherent in the NFL (i.e., salary gap, draft) that create parity. As a result, there are like two elite teams out of 120. There are then 10 good teams, 80 mediocre teams, and 15-20 bad teams.

With ESPN hyping the playoff NON-STOP, they are putting all the focus on a tiny portion of college football programs. Of course people are losing interest. If the programs at the top changed, maybe people would be interested, but it’s the same five or six virtually every year: Bama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Ohio State.

It was refreshing seeing Michigan and Cincy in there but, as usual, the semifinal games were blowouts.

You may enjoy this, but a significant portion of college football fans is growing indifferent and disinterested.

This isn’t about being envious of Bama or Georgia — it’s that there is very little drama to the season anymore. The entertainment value is diminished.

Without the mechanisms in place in professional leagues, it’s the same story playing out season after season. Zzzzzzzz.
