A few of the members of the committee have been chatting about it

It looks more and more like every Division 1 conference - there are ten - will place their champion into the playoff and the remaining slots - 2 if there are 12 seeds and 6 if there are 16 - will be determined by some set of metrics used by the committee. Top 8 seeds host bottom 8 seeds the first Saturday after the conference CCGs. Winners move on to the bowls and the loser move on to represent their conference bowl line up.
