Coach Fu was responsble for hiring the staff.

He lost many of his initial staff......(his guy), he was talked into keeping Bud and Wiles, but not his guys. Coaching staff was under paid per market standards...(but he was/is a control freak type of coach).
he realized his issues and was able to get a couple of VT players ot be coaches. He knew 1) they loved VT and could be a buffer for the base, and 2) they could come in cheap within the payroll.

He knew that the hokie alumni will not criticize one of their own. These guys wanted ot coach at VT, because they love VT and try their best (even if they are under qualified of the position), but will try to work their fanny off. Sorry working hard doesn't replace experience and levels of experience So that what we got. (and its so sad on Coach Ham, JC and the rest.) (look Sean prepared for his current job. (he worked at tenn, SC, Miss State, Oklahoma and VT as well as did amazing job networking with the coaching community to learn pointers . you just can't come to power 5 program and coach.

do I think some of the younger coaches have potential. yes especially coach ham, and smith and our linebacker coach.
