VT had it's most successful run under a former player in Beamer. JC was a big part of the foundation of players that turned the tide for Beamer starting in 93 with the Independence Bowl. JC went out a huge winner at the 95 Sugar Bowl and Hokie nation went crazy. We all felt close to the program with one of our guys as coach in Beamer. We all took the the Lunchpail D with Foster which JC helped define. Then we bring in a outside guy in Fuente. It did not work. The whole Grit thing did not work as we had the wrong guy leading it. I think JC could build a environment and culture that would bring back the hard nose blue collar teams that won a lot of games. Also Hokie nation would feel a lot better with one of our guys leading it. Let's give #59 a go!!
