but I'm not sure recruiting was ever Bud's strong suit. And wasn't there a coach that just quit recruiting on Beamer's watch? Was it Ball? I always thought Frank should have fired him for that.
In this day and age every coach on your staff has to recruit and recruit good. Then the head coach closes if he can. And giving up on your home state and especially an area like the 757 to recruit a 1000 miles away in Florida or Texas is ridiculous. Bama ,Ohio State, and Notre Dame can do that. Virginia Tech can't.
