obviously I jest, but the best move Fu made when he got the job was to bring Evans on board and we road his coat tails all the way to the ACC championship game. Excitement was building for the following season and with the defense we had returning we were primed for a big year. Once Evans made his announcement to leave and a handful of players followed suit (Ford, Hodges, etc) our hopes for the next season took a big hit. I know Fu inherited Beamer's players but I don't think anyone really knew the impact Evans would have. To me the downfall started when Evans left and Fu was never able to build on the momentum of the success he had the initial season. There hasn't been a single QB on the roster since then to match Evans' skill set and what he brought to the team (my opinion, of course). And obviously, QB development rests on Fu and company so I understand where the fault lies. Evans came in ready to go. I incorrectly assumed that Fu (the supposed QB whisperer), would have good (if not great) QBs ready to go each year. For a myriad of reasons that did not happen.
