The question I have: Why do we never have wide open receivers
I watch a good bit of college football. As a general rule, every offense has receivers that are open (more than a step from a db at an angle that allows the qb to complete the pass) quite often. Great QBs throw receivers open with back shoulder balls and things like that, but a lot of passes are completed to open receivers.
I can't tell you the last time I saw one of our receivers open. Sometimes it seems like their routes are just run in a straight line or run to the DB and run with him. If they are not covered, the angle makes the qb throw a lob that usually takes forever or creates a play where catching the ball takes the momentum away and there is no RAC.
So, why? We all blame our QBs for the passing game, but what I see is that the biggest issue is the lack of open receivers.
