A year ago, the news was all excited about Mountain Lake refilling... look.

It has since emptied back to a sad little puddle. It will cycle back and forth to filling and emptying until all the fissures in the basin are filled once again. Nobody has any clue how long it will take. The walk around the lake is still fun, though. But more and more trees are falling over and dying. I suspect is is because the water levels are no longer high enough to support the growth around the lake. It truly is a unique walk along Indian trail around the lake. Go do it if you have a little free time. Only 1.5 miles and great for kids, too.
