Got a question

Do some university presidents see college athletics in about 15-20 years to be just unsustainable for their universities and decide to let it just play out and when the bomb hits to being left out adjust/reduce expectations and programs and fade out over the next 20-30 years????

Many on the college athletics boards just are working through the lenses of athletics, but I think the universities themselves have a huge strategic decision. Is collegiate athletics sustainable at a major universities over the next 30 years, with programs and dollars that are being projected for paying players, staff and capital for facilities? At the same time, the pressure on universities with less government funding, and higher pressure on tuition rates and capital for their universities and associated research and graduate programs? We will see, (with actions) what university's are willing to step up, or retreat. I think the One option that is not sustainable, being in the middle and keep the head in the sand and just say all is good. Also, I see the impact to public institutions that have relied upon the revenue for colleges to maintain payments for debt for athletic facilities and the inability to sustain debt payments due to being left out, is huge. This debt are normally guaranteed by their state higher education programs. Do the states have to come in and payoff this debt??? and for what??? if there is no athletic program left??
