My kids concentrated positions in companies they like and hold


Has been much better than etfs and stocks that rebalance and often create tax isssues. And they actually have to learn about company basics and fundamentals. They don’t give a dime about learning about Etfs

And most of the discount platforms have no cost stock trades. So you aren’t paying anyone. The only gains or losses that get generated are for actual trades not just because a fund rebalances.

If the goal is to teach the kids about investing buying individual is a better option in my opinion.
