Anyone lamenting about us joining the ACC
is engaging in revisionist history or just second guessing without critical thinking. We had no other options at the time.
Waiting it out in the diminished Big East would have been a massive risk.
And the B1G in particular wouldn't have taken us because we aren't an AAU school and we would add no major market that Maryland didn't give them.
When the ACC originally announces MIA, SYR, and BC to the ACC, the SEC could have taken us at that time if they wanted us. But that didn't happen. So we we left to work legal and political angles to get ourselves invited to the ACC. It worked out in the moment for our survival.
We are set up satisfactorily in case the ACC implodes. But it would be better if we stopped this train of mediocrity on the field and started smacking good opponents around again.
