Most martial arts focus on empty hand training, and possibly supplement with some weapons training. Escrima straight up admits that a weapon, even one as simple as a short stick, is always better than bare hands. Escrima also translates pretty well if you can get your hands on a knife, too.

Of course, these days in the world of John Wick/Kingsmen, gun-fu is a legit martial art. And probably the most effective one ever created.
