I think it's pretty well established that Dabo went to the AD and said to win a national title, I need more $$$. One of the ways to funnel more $$$ was cut swimming and other sports.

So when Clemson sticks their chest out about beating Ohio State in past years, I take the broader view and look at the 40 some varsity sports Ohio State has and their success in them. I also have a lot more respect for Stanford (or, gasp, uva) - even though they have little football success, they are world class across the board in the Olympic sports. How many national titles has Uva won this year? At least lacrosse and women's swimming. They've recently won baseball. Their women's swim team is ridiculously stacked and will probably win several more in the next few years.
