Texas

1. I'm sure Texas did their due diligence with all the conferences. Texas, like Notre Dame would be welcome by any conference as an equal member.

2. The problem with the Texas-to-the-ACC line is that Texas wouldn't have been coming to the ACC as a equal partner. The ACC would have been willing to deal in ways the B1G, SEC and even the Pac12 wouldn't have. So even if the ACC would have somehow landed Texas, it would be a Pyrrhic Victory. Too high maintenance.

3. Whenever we talk about this team or that team leaving, there is always political complications. It would be complicated for Texas to leave to go anywhere. To be honest, it was a bit of a coup d'état that A&M was able to sneak out of town. I think because it was in the context of the chaos of the possibility of half the BigXII leaving for the Pac10. Under normal circumstances, I'm think state political powers would have offered more resistance. I don't know for sure on this. Just speculating.

4. While I do think the ACC has a lot to offer in terms of markets, I think if Texas came to the ACC after A&M went to the SEC, it would be a bad look for Texas. A&M steps up to big time football and Texas goes east to take advantage of markets, a sweetheart ACC deal and gets a decidedly easier schedule--weak move.
