I noticed nobody has addressed the substance of what I posted here on this topic and on my part things that are not reported publicly and impressions from the travel community are impossible to quantify. This post will only reflect facts and will be supported with links other than those already provided. Hokie nation can interpret what they wish from them.

Nov 6, 2017: Washington Huskies announce NLI signing class. 8 athletes including Madison Banks sign NLI's meaning that UW and the athlete have agreed to financial aid terms. It was posted here that this player did not have a roster spot at UW but there is no publicly available evidence to support that claim. https://gohuskies.com/news/2017/11/6/softball-huskies-sign-eight-for-2019.aspx.

May 31, 2018: Va tech announces Pete D'Amour as new softball head coach (just noticed his name is pronounced "duh-more"). https://hokiesports.com/news/2018/5/31/virginia-tech-selects-pete-d-amour-to-lead-softball-program.aspx

July 23rd 2018: Abigail Knight received email in linked article specifically quoting the following, "At this time, our roster is larger than I'm comfortable with," the email on July 23 from Virginia Tech coach Pete D'Amour read. "I suggest that you open up your recruitment. You're a great kid and a hard worker, another program will be lucky to get you. I wish you nothing but the best.".
Since this is a direct quote can TSL at least acknowledge that Citizen Times would have required the Knight family to forward this email to their editorial staff before they would publish it?

Aug 2nd 2018: VT adds Madison Banks to softball roster less than two weeks after Knight receives email notification from coach D'Amour. https://hokiesports.com/news/2018/8/2/softball-d-amour-adds-three-newcomers.aspx.

For those who may be wondering why I would post to this extent on a rival school's message board I'll conclude with this. My kid has much more in common with Ms. Knight than any highly recruited student athlete and felt lucky to get the chance to go to UVA and play at our crappy old facility so when this story broke my reaction was TBFTGOGGI.
