I don't think many people knew Eddie was on that song back then.


He wasn't in the video was he? I think Michael back then was just deemed "safe", even if he was R&B. I think it was Run DMC with their team-up with Aerosmith in '86 for "Walk this Way" that really broke down the walls for Hip Hop on MTV...then followed the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, etc. and Yo, MTV Raps.
