Some more crazy EVH stuff, definitely the mad scientist, that wacko...


rocketing sound at the beginning of "And the Cradle Will Rock" is Edward on keys, pumping the signal heavily flanged (to get that whooshing effect) through a Leslie rotating speaker cabinet.

He also synth sequenced the nutty sounding backing sound on "Dancin' in the Streets" from Diver Down, which he never really wanted to do the song to begin with.... he probably did that intentionally knowing he'd never play the song live.

Roth bitched about the heavy keyboard use on album 1984, but they had used keys and synths here and there in the studio long before 1984 came along, and while it's not my fav song by any means, Jump gave Roth the #1 tune he always craved.

Roth didn't want to do "I'll Wait" from 1984, because he thought it was too much keys. Ed overruled him on that one. Great song in my opinion.
