Yeah, if you don't have 200A service, you need to do the math on the load


I had a home with 150A service awhile ago and was adding a spa with a 50A dedicated circuit (after I'd installed a 30A table saw).

Luckily, I'd replaced the electric dryer with gas before that, and that kept the home load within limits.
