Mekhi knows his Best Weight
My son was (still is) good friends with Mekhi, and spent a fair amount of time with him over the past two years. I saw Mekhi a lot too. One thing that stood out for me was how much Mekhi was always in control of his weight. Sure he put some off-season weight on and had to drop some pounds occasionally, but he never seemed far off or without a reasonable plan to be exactly where he needed to be on a given day. I could (but won't) list a number of VT All Americans over the past 5-7 years who struggled terribly with their weight at times - and that struggle was grueling, and undoubtedly sapped their strength and enthusiasm for the sport. In contrast, Mekhi has it under control. If he's comfortable at 165, he'll stay there. If he packs on a few more pounds of muscle and decides he's better off at 174, he'll move there and be as lean and mean as he has been at 165. Obviously, the coaches are watching him and guiding him well, but he's also a young man who is in control and knows what he's doing.
