Also, he's already locked in at 74kg (163) for the Olympic trials.

The 2020 trials were scheduled for early April, a few weeks after NCAAs. If the 2021 trials happen on a similar schedule, Mekhi would have to drop 10 pounds pretty quickly if he were to compete at a full 174 in the NCAA tournament. Staying at 165 this coming year would make for better continuity even if he eventually bumps to 174.
