Makes sense and you are probably right which is why I was curious

if it is only 1 year and Notre Dame didn't qualify for the CCG, then would the ball move any towards that direction. Even if was a baby step, then that still could be viewed a step in the right direction.

The collapse of the Big East is something else I am keeping my eye on. In part because WVU and Texas seem to be potential targets for the ACC (depending on what happens with Notre Dame). I could see the ACC give Texas the same deal it gave Notre Dame which could potentially kill any hope of ever seeing Notre Dame as a full member.

The addition of WVU would suggest that the ball could still be rolling in that direction. However, I don't think the ACC is in a position of power (like what the MAC was with UMass a few years ago) to where the ACC would give Notre Dame an ultimatum. As a result, it is probably unlikely that the ACC would even consider adding WVU until after it received a commitment from Notre Dame.

The downside to either option is it would mean the ACC would have 18 basketball members. The ACC may find it has issues coming up with a 20 game schedule with 18 members. The issues wouldn't be with making sure every team plays everyone else 1 time which is 17 games. The issues would come in trying to determine which 3 opponents among the 17 teams a team would play a second time. Basically 3 does not go into 17 cleanly, so there may be some teams who end up short 1 opponent (assuming those teams don't end up playing an opponent 3 times in a season).
