I've run the actual calculations on Florida for Covid. I have the number of positive cases for each age group, the number of deaths, the number of people with positive antibodies and calculated the actual death rates in Florida and compared it to the common flu.
For ages under 24, the common flu is way more deadly. In fact, the common flu is 1000 times more deadly as per cdc numbers. The flu is at 0.01%. Covid is 0.00098%
From 24 to 49, they are very similar. Common flu is 0.02% and covid is 0.037.
From 50 to 64, covid is more deadly but not like media portrays. common flu is 0.06%. Covid is 0.21%.
Above 65 it is a different case. Common flu is 0.83%. Covid is 1.76%.
Overall, covid is 0.314% and common flu is assumed to be 0.1%.
Since antibody test show only people that have had the virus as of 3 weeks ago, by my calculations as of about June 1, 1.06 million people in Florida have had the virus.
I also looked at the hospitalization rates. I couldn't find a breakdown based on ages for flu. But for flu, it ranges from 1.05% to 1.32% while covid is 1.27%.
