The problem with that line of reasoning is (edited)


It would mean that everyone was exposed at more or less the same time. That the weaker got sick (and died) first, and that only now are the stronger getting sick.

But that's not how viral spread works. If we were all exposed at once, then more or less everyone who was going to get sick would have gotten sick already. In that case we would expect very few new cases any more. And if we weren't exposed all at once, there's no reason why the weaker would have been exposed sooner than the stronger.

Death numbers SHOULD be going down. We've no magic bullet cure yet, but some treatment options are helping some of the time and people are surviving that would not have back in March.

edit: and we're still in the first wave. New York isn't experiencing big flare ups because COVID has pretty much burned through there. Arizona is, because COVID is relatively new out there.
