My understanding of the second wave is seasonal


People are outside more in summer and viruses don't propagate as well in heat and humidity. Once fall hits and everyone's inside, the virus will start to spread again.

There are many benefits to the "lockdowns". The same amount of people will not get sick and die in the end. We've learned a lot about how the virus behaves and spreads and how best to counteract that. We're coming up with better ways to treat it and eventually there will be a vaccine. In the early days something like 80% of people on ventilators died. I've read that's been reduced to around 50% because we're better at treating.
