Wrestling is certainly the top sport right not at VT, revenue or not.

With that being said 5th place in wrestling does not truly reflect relative success well. Wrestling had a fraction of the competing schools of most sports.

And wrestling at tech is a model of success, as a business. Dresser created a well oiled machine, and that includes raising money. This helps the team remain elite, and keeps the sport from being cut.

VT is underfunded overall, compared to most schools, and you feel this most hard in your non-revenue sports. Coaching and recruiting are just part of the job, then you must “run the business” as well
